Here are Christophe's favorite five albums. What are yours?
Django Reinhardt - Retrospective
During my time at high school, I used to borrow CDs at random from the public library. That is how I discovered Django. After hearing the first few notes, I became totally addicted to his playing. For me, his music is like a warm breeze of joy and freshness. Django opened up the world of jazz to me.
Radiohead - Kid A
I've been listening to this album since I was a teenager. Even now, I still get different feelings and discover new elements each time I listen to it. Everything about it is superb: the compositions, the playing, the arrangements, and especially the production and mixing.
John Coltrane - Ballads
For me this is an unrivaled jazz album. There is so much expression in it. I think that nobody can match this; after listening to this album, all we can do is to try to create something different.
A Tribe Called Quest - Midnight Marauders
A hip hop classic, this album sounds huge and is a feel-good album for me. It's the kind of music that makes me want to turn my speakers up to max!
Kurt Rosenwinkel - Caipi
Kurt Rosenwinkel is one of the most talented jazz guitarists around right now. He is constantly pushing music to the next level. The melodies on this album are so strong - it's a masterpiece. On this album, Kurt did almost everything by himself and released it on his own label.
