Happy Birthday to Al di Meola who turns 66 today.
Al di Meola is well known for his technical mastery, especially his incredibly fast alternate picking technique and blazing runs. His style is saturated in Mediterranean influences such as flamenco, as well as Latin jazz.
He had a huge influence on many great players, notably his neighbor in Florida, Yngwie Malmsteen. Al is also one of Giovanni's favorite guitarists. So to celebrate Al's birthday, Giovanni prepared a medley of three of Al di Meola's most well-known tunes, performed here accompanied by Carl. The medley consists of the main themes of "Lady of Rome, Sister of Brazil", "Elegant Gypsy", and "Mediterranean Sundance" (all from the album "Elegant Gypsy").
